600 Guadalupe is a 66-story, 865-ft residential and office tower in downtown Austin — roughly 2.2 million square feet of apartments, Class A office space, parking, and ground-floor retail. It's a $325M project, and it topped out as the tallest building in Austin at the time. I coordinated the BIM model for it — and provided the sleeve drawings that located its concrete penetrations before the pours, not after them.
A tower that size doesn't leave room for a clash to slip through. Dozens of trades — mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection — all routing through the same structural core, floor after floor, with almost no margin for a duct or conduit run that doesn't fit the first time.
On a 66-story pour schedule, a sleeve drawing is the difference between a penetration placed in the formwork and a core drill through cured concrete.
That's the same coordination discipline I bring to every project — including the concrete lead-time practice I still use today: sign-off scheduled well ahead of each pour, so sleeves and block-outs are placed correctly before the concrete goes down, not corrected after it.
